HICAPS
HICAPS is an electronic health claims system, that provides health fund members the convenience of on-the-spot electronic claims.
How does it work?
- Our receptionist will provide you with a bill for your dental treatment.
- You give us your health care provider’s membership card.
- We swipe it through the HICAPS machine to process your rebate.
- Your health care provider’s contribution towards your bill is processed on the spot.
- You just need to pay any remaining fees (if applicable), known as a “gap payment”.

We provide kids dental services under the Commonwealth Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS).
The CDBS is a government initiative to give financial support for essential dental services for children aged between 2 and 17. The scheme provides eligible children benefits capped at $1,000 per child over two consecutive calendar years.
While CDBS does not cover orthodontic treatment, it does cover essential dental services such as dental check ups, X-rays, scale and clean, fissure sealing, tooth fillings, root canals and extractions.

The treatment is bulk-billed through Medicare. Further information in relation to this scheme can be found at Department of Human Services.
Department of Veterans’ Affairs
Department of Veteran’s Affairs (DVA) Gold Card holders will receive bulk billed treatment at Coogee Plaza Dental.
If you are a White Card holder, you may be eligible for subsidised dental services only where it relates to DVA accepted disabilities. Under a White Card, some treatments require DVA approval before it is commenced.

Dental Health Services
If you are on the waiting list for public dental treatment, you may be offered a voucher to be used at a private dental practice. This scheme gives eligible public patients on large waiting lists the option to have dental treatment by a private dentist.
Coogee Plaza Dental has an agreement with North Metropolitan Health Service (NMHS) to accept government vouchers.
